Friend,
The Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade this summer.
Many states are already gearing up to ban abortion, and in Michigan, a 1931 law outlawing abortion would go into effect. It would make providing an abortion a felony, with a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
We’ve got to keep Michigan a safe state for abortion access—not only for Michiganders but also for anyone in the Midwest who will need to travel to Michigan to get abortion care.
A new ballot initiative would enshrine people’s fundamental right to bodily autonomy and abortion into Michigan’s State Constitution. We’ve got to secure our rights.
Can you donate now to Reproductive Freedom for All, which is running an essential ballot initiative campaign to protect abortion rights in Michigan?
Abortion advocates have pushed to repeal Michigan’s 1931 law, but it hasn’t been possible with a Republican-majority state legislature.
Reproductive Freedom for All’s ballot initiative would amend the Michigan Constitution to protect a wide range of reproductive health care, including abortion care.
This proposal will affirm that every Michigander has the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which involves the right to make and carry out decisions without political interference about all matters relating to pregnancy, including birth control, abortion, prenatal care, and childbirth.
This measure will help ensure that all Michiganders have the right to safe and respectful reproductive care, everyone has the right to use temporary or permanent birth control, and no one can be punished for having a miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.
In order to get the measure on the November ballot, Reproductive Freedom for All needs to collect valid signatures from 425,059 registered voters by July 11.
This is a huge endeavor, and they need our support.
Please chip in now to Reproductive Freedom for All, in order to win much-needed reproductive health care protections in Michigan!
Thank you so much. We are all needed in this fight for our rights, and anything you can donate matters.
In solidarity,
Rashida
