John,
This week I had the honor of
hosting the 13th
annual Turkey Giveaway,
along with Mayor Schaaf and Mayor Liccardo, providing over 5,200
turkeys to families across San Francisco. This is a very special event
that helps ensure all families have Thanksgiving dinner on the table,
no matter their circumstances.
Yesterday I spent the morning
carving turkeys for The
Salvation Army Harbor Light Center’s
Thanksgiving meal with Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, the
San Francisco Police Department, and the San Francisco Fire
Department.
This is the time of year to be
grateful for what we have, and to give back to our communities. This
annual tradition brings the city and partner organizations together to
share in the holiday spirit with those in need.
As I sit down today with family and
friends for our Thanksgiving meal, I’m more grateful than ever for the
support of San Franciscans in every neighborhood of this great city.
While we are facing serious challenges that we are working every day
to address, I know that together we are making a difference. I hope
that you are all taking time today to rest, give thanks, and spend
time with the people who are most important to you.
Speaking of holiday traditions, I
hope that you will visit Winter
Park at Civic Center this
year for ice skating in our lighted tree forest. Bring your family and
friends for winter wonderland fun, hot chocolate at Bi-Rite Cafe, and
the playscapes at Hellen Diller Playground for little
kids.
Sincerely,
Mayor London Breed
