For months, we’ve been warning about the stealth privatization of Medicare, first through a Trump-era program called “DCEs,” then through a new, rebranded and expanded version called REACH. In both cases, people who specifically chose traditional Medicare are secretly being shifted over to corporate, for-profit plans, and they don’t find out until they are unexpectedly denied care.

Now, the latest Republican nominee to the Social Security Advisory Board is Andrew Biggs. Biggs was a lead architect of George W. Bush’s scheme to privatize Social Security and gamble our benefits on the stock market.

The Biggs nomination can be blocked in the Senate. And Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra has the power to end the Medicare REACH privatization program with the stroke of a pen.
