Yesterday, U.S. Representative Grace Meng [[link removed]] announced that her bill to establish a commission to study the creation of a nation museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. was passed unanimously by the Senate! We can’t think of a much better way to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month than this, and it’s exciting that we’re one step closer to seeing the history and achievements of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders celebrated within a museum. ( We also highlighted Rep. Meng on social media yesterday [[link removed]] .)

Last weekend’s mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket, carried out by a white supremacist terrorist, was absolutely devastating. It strikes at the heart of the Black community in Buffalo and Black communities across the country, and it’s yet another thread in a sprawling web of anti-Black hatred. But know this: We won’t stand for it. It’s well beyond time for those in positions of power to take action against white supremacy and anti-Black racism in the media, in our policies, in our schools, and in all areas of life. And if they don’t take urgent, meaningful action now, they don’t deserve to be in power. It’s as simple as that. Rest in Power, Roberta A. Drury, Margus D. Morrison, Andre Mackniel, Aaron Salter, Geraldine Talley, Celestine Chaney, Heyward Patterson, Katherine Massey, Pearl Young, and Ruth Whitfield.

And Updates

"It was all a dream..." At least that's what it feels like now that our AANHPI Women Rising training is over! Twenty more Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women leaders are back home and bringing about change in their communities. We're so proud of these women!

A huge thanks to our partners (Asian Pacific Islander American Vote, Coalition for Asian American Children & Families, Asian American Federation, Asian American Power Network, AAPI Civic Engagement Fund, and the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies) and sponsors (Southwest Airlines, The Coulter Foundation, and the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund) for helping make this training so special!
To see more of the action and the amazing community we built last weekend during the training, take a look at our Instagram [[link removed]] and Facebook [[link removed]] accounts. Also, be sure to check out the latest episode of The May Lee Show [[link removed]] on all podcast platforms! May speaks with our COO Sara Le Brusq about how we're training AANHPI women to run for office, win, and lead. She also talks to one of the amazing leaders who just took our AANHPI Women Rising training, Celina Tupou-Fulivai, who wants to serve because she's tired of the invisibilization of AANHPIs like herself.
