John,

These past few months have been a whirlwind. But this morning, I had time to really reflect and think about the state of this race, and what I want to make clear to all of you: This race isn’t about me.

It’s about the millions of people left behind by a broken system and incompitent leaders who care more about their millionaire donors than the health and well-being of their constituents.

This race is about my brother, Rennie.

I lost my brother ten years ago to his battle with mental health. And while that pain is with me every day, I’m so thankful to my friends and family whose love and support helped me through those unimaginable times.

But where was the help for my brother?

The truth is, our healthcare system failed him. Incompetent leaders were too busy helping Big Pharma get bigger, leaving working-class families left to search endlessly for quality care.

Today, it’s even worse. In Colorado, youth suicide rates are at the highest we’ve ever seen. Depression and anxiety are skyrocketing in a generation that feels more alone and hopeless every day.

And those who need help are being sent through the same broken system that left Rennie and my family behind.

That’s why I’m in this race. We need to wake up and create a healthcare system that actually works.

That means expanding access to quality mental healthcare, regulating Big Pharma so working families can afford their medicines, promoting healthy competition that drives costs down, and cutting through the partisan distractions that prevent us from getting anything done.

I understand how urgent this is. I’m running to make sure Coloradan families never have to go through what mine did – and I hope you’ll join me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email.

Yours always,

Alex
