This is urgent, John. We hope you can read this entire email and help Cori out in this critical moment: Here’s what’s happening:
FIRST: Our corporate-backed opponent launched their FIRST attack ad against Cori this month. It’s just a preview of the misleading, slimy attacks they’re planning on flooding the airwaves with until our primary to smear Cori.
THEN: This week, Politico published an article reporting that super PACs and other organizations have already dropped more than $53 million in Democratic House primaries this year. It’s an unprecedented amount of money being spent by outside groups to attack progressive candidates like Cori Bush.
SO NOW: We need to prepare for the record-amount of dark money that’s going to be flooded in our race leading up to our primary this August.
Republicans and special interests have already made it clear that they’re terrified of the progressive agenda Cori is leading in Congress and will spend millions to try and stop us. Will you chip in $5 right now to make sure our team has the funds to prepare for the flood of dark money super PACs are spending to defeat progressives and help keep Cori in Congress?
Since Cori’s first day in office — the GOP, Fox News, and corporate PACs have made Cori a top target of their false, racist attacks — and it’s only going to get worse as we get closer to the primary.
They know that leaders like Cori pose a threat to the status quo. They know that Cori ran on a promise to legislate for policies that prioritize everyday families, not special interests. And they know that the people-powered movement Cori is growing threatens their white supremacist agenda.
We’re determined to show everyone that we will not be intimidated by these attacks. We will not back down in our mission to dismantle systemic racism in America and pass transformative policies that lift ALL of our families up.
But to be honest with you, after reading this Politico article, we need to raise more donations than we planned to make sure we’re ready for the record amount of money corporate PACs and special interests are spending to attack progressive candidates.
In solidarity,
Morgan
