Friends -

I am writing to let you know that I have decided to run for Congress in the newly-created New York 10th Congressional District.

And today, I am asking you to join me in what will be a grassroots campaign powered by people who believe we need a Congress that prioritizes reducing inequality, expanding access to education for our children, fighting climate change, and protecting our democracy.

Now, no one person can run for Congress and win by themselves. It takes a team, and I need you on it. So I am asking:

Will you please become a day one donor to my campaign to serve as the representative for New York’s new 10th Congressional District?

Everywhere I go, people ask me if things can get better. They are hurting, need help fast, and don’t believe we can elect a Congress that can get the job done for working people.

I’ve heard that before.

When I was elected Mayor of New York City, people said it’d be impossible to pass Pre-K for All.

Today, nearly 70,000 children enjoy Pre-K as a universal right, and 40,000 more take part in 3-K across all 32 community school districts, putting money back into the pockets of parents who need it.

They said it would be impossible to dramatically reduce the use of stop-and-frisk, make the most ambitious investments in affordable housing in the history of New York City, and reduce crime to record low levels.

And maybe most exceptionally, they said defying national trends and reducing inequality in New York City of all places would be impossible.

But we did it. All of it. Together.

I am very proud of that record, and you should be too. Now it’s time to take our case to Congress.

This new district includes almost all of my old City Council district and areas we did very well in during both of my mayoral campaigns.

It includes a number of working and middle class communities that have been hit hard by COVID and need help now.

I am ready to serve the people of my community. The place I love.

But I cannot do it alone. No one person can. So I am asking:

Can you please make a donation — of any amount you can afford — to my campaign to serve as the representative for New York’s new 10th Congressional District? Become a day one donor today.

Thank you in advance for chipping in. Especially on day one.

In solidarity,

Bill de Blasio
