Mob Intimidation is Not Justice
|
|
While we are celebrating the contents of the Supreme Court leaked opinion of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, abortion activists do not feel the same. In fact, they have doxxed the five SCOTUS justices who signed onto the majority opinion and began protesting at their homes. This is not only dangerous but illegal under federal law.
18 U.S.C. Section 1507 prohibits protests at any judge’s residence ‘with the intent of influencing’ a jurist. Eagle Forum drafted a letter with national and state signatories who are calling on the Department of Justice to uphold this law by prosecuting those who engage in these illegal acts.
The letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland states:
Because the opinion released by Politico is a draft, it is clear these demonstrations outside the residences of the justices are meant to ‘influence’ the final outcome of this case. We call upon you to investigate these cases of intimidation of the Judiciary. Prosecute those who violate federal law. It is incumbent upon you to enforce the law and protect the Justices, their families, and the U.S. Judicial system.
Our justices deserve to have privacy and comfort in their own homes. It is time that our Department of Justice upholds the rule of law. You can read the letter in its entirety here.
