John,
The January 6th Select Committee has been investigating the 2021 insurrection at the Capitol and the efforts to overturn an election for a year now. Soon, they’re going to hold their first public hearings—a huge step toward answers and accountability for the insurrection.
CREW is launching a project to answer your questions about the hearings and the upcoming work of the committee—and we need your help. What are the questions about the investigation and hearings you want answers to? Reply to this email, and we’ll include answers to as many as we can.
The Justice Department recently asked the Select Committee for transcripts of many of the committee’s interviews, which have included close associates of former President Trump. This is a big deal, and one of the clearest signs yet that the DOJ is moving toward a wide-ranging inquiry. The DOJ’s investigation and the committee’s work are essential to real accountability for Trump’s and his allies’ attack on our democracy.
Can the committee’s work lead to criminal charges? When will the public see a final report? Stay tuned for answers to those questions and more—we’ll answer as many as we can. Just reply to this email with your questions.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
