Hi, my name is Piper Perabo. You might know me from movies like Coyote Ugly and Black Butterfly, or you might have seen me in the current hit show Yellowstone in my role as environmental activist Summer Higgins.

But here’s something you might not know: My character on Yellowstone was based on my real-life activism, after I had dinner with the show’s creator and told him how I’d been arrested while protesting Bret Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court.

Now, given the news coming out of SCOTUS the past few weeks, it seems like protesting that appointment was a pretty good call, even if it cost me a several hours in a sweltering hot police van and a small fine.

But my inconveniences that day were nothing compared to the suffering folks are going to endure if we lose the right to make decisions about our own bodies!

Which leads me to the reason I’m writing to you today: If we want to save Roe v. Wade or make progress on any of the other issues that matter to us, we need to expand our Democratic majorities in the U.S. House and Senate.

To do that, we need to flip seats in states and districts where Republicans currently hold power.

And to do that, we need to reach swing voters and even some moderate Republicans and bring them over to our side.

But how do we do that in a nation as polarized as this one, especially when right-wing media is so pervasive and demonizing Democrats as radicals and communists every chance they get?

Well, the first thing we’ve got to do is stop letting them define us!

In a moment, I’m going to show you a new video by No Dem Left Behind that challenges the false Republican narratives about the so-called “radical” left. It was written by Billy Ray, who wrote the film adaptation of The Hunger Games, and I provided the voiceover pro bono because I believe so strongly in No Dem Left Behind’s work.

No Dem Left Behind is doing the important and tough work of going into rural and working-class “red” states and districts where Republicans have been dominating for years and making sure Democratic candidates have the grassroots support and resources they need to connect with voters who feel “left behind” by the D.C. political crowd.

They’re working hard to change the conversation in these communities and reach the voters we need to flip these battleground seats BLUE.

The video I’m about to introduce is part of that effort.
