Memorial Day Weekend kick-off at Venue 1012

Grab your cowboy boots and kick-start your Memorial Day weekend with Country Bash-Oswego Honors Veterans on Saturday, May 28 at Venue 1012! Headliner Whiskeyfist will perform the hottest country hits along with Southern and classic rock favorites. Grab a cold beer or glass of wine (available onsite) and start the evening with the Tim Gleason Band and Wild Daisy. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets are?$15 or $10 for veterans, active duty military and immediate family. Learn more and?buy ahead of time.?

On Sunday, May 29, return to Venue 1012 and listen to patriotic favorites such as Stars and Stripes Forever and Star Spangled Banner at the free Tribute to Veterans concert with Celebration Brass and Springbrook's Oswego Pops Orchestra.?Details at venue1012.com.?

Triple crown winner Horton retiring

Oswego Finance Director Mark Horton will retire in June after three decades of public service. Stop by Village Hall to wish him well on Friday, May 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., with remarks at 4 p.m.

Duckling rescue

On the morning of May 19, the Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Protection District helped rescue five baby ducklings that were caught in a storm sewer near Red Robin. Police are working on reuniting the lost and very fluffy ducklings with their mother.? Take some time this week to recognize the hard-working members of our Police Department. Happy National Police Appreciation Week!? ?

Sell and/or shop

Residents are invited to participate in Oswego's Community Yard Sale on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you'd like to be included in the Oswego Ledger ad promoting the sale, registration is required by Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m.? Do you love music and being engaged in community events? Ticket takers and beverage tent volunteers are needed May 28? and 29 for the Memorial Day weekend concerts. Volunteers must be 16+ to sell tickets and 21+ to sell beer, wine, soda and bottled water. Dedicate three to four hours of time to receive 2 tickets to any of Venue 1012?s upcoming ticketed events.
