Despite flaunting Trump’s approval, Cawthorn lost his seat to NC Senator Chuck Edwards. Bloomberg ’s Emma Kinery says that this “reflects the power that party leaders still hold in their home states and is a sign that politicians can go too far, even in the Trump era.”
