My name is Mike Miller. I currently work Foothill Area Detectives. I am completing my thesis in Homeland Security with a Counterterrorism option through American Military University. As part of my thesis, I need to conduct original research. As part of this original research, I plan on conducting voluntary anonymous online surveys of League members in which they respond to statements with either “Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree” as well as statistical identifiers like if they work patrol or non-patrol assignment , years of service (0-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 years, 16-20 years), and if they are at the officer rank (Yes/No). My thesis title is “The effects of Expectancy Theory on police officers’ motivation in the homeland security enterprise”. Basically, I’m studying if patrol officers are motivated to look for and report precursors to terrorism based on what they expect they expect in return for doing so.
