In case you missed it!

Shannon Liss-Riordan for Attorney General

John,

It’s been a busy week in the news for Team Shannon and we wanted to share some of this news with you!

This week Shannon was in Georgia with her co-counsel, fellow civil rights lawyer Harry Daniels, students, and their families to file a lawsuit against the Floyd County School District for racist disciplinary practices, violating the student’s civil rights.

Watch the clip here — and if you can, chip in to help us elect this fighter for the people as our next Attorney General:

The importance of this case goes far beyond just one school in Georgia with discriminatory practices. Here's what Shannon had to say to FOX 5:

"We're not just talking about Coosa High School. This case could be prescient for schools across the country, because we are committed to ensuring our public schools are a safe and inviting place for people of any race and background."

And here’s what Shannon had to say to the Boston Globe:

The racist system that got five Black students in Georgia suspended is the same system that contributes to mass incarceration in Massachusetts and the racist violence we see across the country far too often.

Shannon’s commitment to civil rights has stretched across her 23-year career as a labor and civil rights lawyer. Her commitment to this type of work is what will drive her as Massachusetts’ next Attorney General.

She’s been doing the work for years — now, if we help get her there, she’s ready to continue doing it for the whole Commonwealth.

Shannon has always been a fighter for the people. As Attorney General, we know she will have a massive impact from working to dismantle the systemic racism in our justice system to fighting back against corporations that would exploit workers in our state.

In solidarity,

Team Shannon

P.S. If you have't done so already, join us in solidarity with the Coosa High students as we let schools in Georgia and across the country know that we will not let them get away with this type of systemic racism by signing our petition now.
