Today is an opportunity for us to come together with family and loved ones to take stock of all that we have to be thankful for.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to spend the holidays with my family. Time spent appreciating the company of those we hold dear will always be one of life's greatest privileges.
As a veteran and as the son of a World War II veteran, I'm reminded of the brave men and women who wear the uniform around the globe in service to our nation. Their sacrifices allow us to continue to live in a nation that values our freedom and safety above all else. Today and every day, we owe our service members, veterans, and their families a deep debt of gratitude.
Thanksgiving also serves as an important reminder that many Americans are still in need. Whether it's struggling to make ends meet, to afford necessary health care or to stay warm this winter, these families deserve to be in our thoughts. I remain committed to working towards a country whose prosperity is shared by all of us.
Lastly, I am thankful to have the privilege of continuing to represent Michigan in the United States Senate. I've lived in our wonderful state my whole life and am always proud to call it home.
I hope that each of you are enjoying time and good food with the special people in your life.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Gary
