Friend,
Kelly and I wanted to take a moment to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving from our family.
I posted a short message on social media today, and simply quoted the Apostle Paul in his important reminder to the church:
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
In America, it has always been a critical part of our history and tradition to remember and recount the blessings and providence of our Heavenly Father.
In the fall of 1789, Congress asked President George Washington to issue that first Thanksgiving Day proclamation, as a reminder not unlike the one issued by Paul.
Washington wrote that we a have a duty to "render unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection," for our Constitution, "for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed," and for so much more.
I'm so grateful to stand with patriots like you, Friend, who still understand and cherish these extraordinary blessings.
