I officially filed for reelection this week! Preparing for another election season has me thinking of some of our past runs for office. I even dug up a little Throwback Thursday picture of me with my family back when I ran for state Senate in 2010:

A few things have changed since then. My kids are so much bigger! My knees don’t work quite as well.
But many things have stayed true. Every day that I serve, I have the opportunity to advocate for you. Every day that I serve, I get to work for a brighter future – not just for my kids but for kids and families throughout our region. And every day, friends like you have had my back. Many of you have been with me since the beginning, and I want to say thank you for your support.
Together, this people-powered team has come so far — but with so much on the line this November, it's clear that our work is not over. The future of our democracy is on the ballot, which is why we have to keep looking forward.
If I've learned anything from campaigning over the years, it's that it's the strength of the grassroots team behind a candidate that makes all the difference. That's why today, I want to keep growing our campaign.
I'm counting on folks from this community to take action today to show you're with me in the work to defend the Democratic House majority. Will you chip in $10, $5, or whatever you can to help us build another winning campaign?
Listen, I am in this line of work to serve the people, not special interests. It's important I see support from people across the region because this is a people-powered movement, through and through.
Right now, we're fighting to cut costs — including gas prices — for working families. We're fighting to improve our nation's supply chains and create more economic opportunity for more people in more places. We're fighting to defend Social Security and Medicare for our seniors. And we're fighting to defend voting rights and reproductive freedom, because future generations depend on it.
We have to keep up the momentum if we're going to win this year, and it starts with growing our grassroots team. Contribute whatever you can to our campaign today.
