Only in America, and only by the grace of God, are some stories possible. 

My story is one of those.

Only here, and only under the guiding hand of a truly higher power, could I hope to be where I am today, enjoying the privilege of serving as your Congressman.

The blessings of freedom we enjoy as Americans gave me the opportunity and confidence to rise up, work hard, start businesses, employ others, and help other members of our community share in the blessings of freedom.

Only here could it be possible for me, and only here has it been possible for millions of others.

Today is a truly American holiday because it asks us to pause and remember all those who help us become who and what we are as citizens: strong, prosperous, and free… but also because it asks us to take a moment and recognize, as human beings, that all our striving is imperfect before the perfect example the Lord provides us.

No matter how you spend today - and I pray you’re able to do so in a place filled with the warmth of a loving family - and no matter the challenges you face in your lives, I also pray you’re able to know much today for which you can truly feel thankful.

I know I’m thankful to God for more than I can say. Not least among those things is, again, the honor of representing you in Congress.

After today’s pause, I’ll return to the work of preserving our freedom, and continue to pray for the greatness of our country, her people, and all those who serve under the flag. I’m grateful to do so with your continued support.
