Next week Indigenous Environmental Network as a part of our  It Takes Roots alliance will be on the ground in Santiago Chile, at the Cumbre de los Pueblos, to stand together with social movements from throughout the Americas, and in Madrid, Spain at the United Nations’ Climate Conference, aka COP25, bringing to light the flaws of the Paris Climate Agreement. In particular, how Article 6 of the agreement supports Carbon Pricing as a solution to climate change.

Carbon Offsets are pay-to-pollute loopholes being peddled by the same neoliberals that Indigenous uprisings and popular movements around Mother Earth are currently fighting.

COP25 takes place at a pivotal moment as the protests against neoliberalism in Chile pushed the UN to change locations. Uprisings are happening around the world in places like Chile, Ecuador, Columbia, Iran, India, and Brazil to protect Mother Earth from the climate chaos Indigenous and frontline communities are experiencing from society’s addiction to dirty fossil fuels. The It Takes Roots delegations to Chile and Spain are comprised of the members of the Climate Justice Alliance, Grassroots Global Justice, the Indigenous Environmental Network, and Right to the City, uniting communities from the frontlines of climate justice, Indigenous sovereignty and treaty rights, grassroots feminism and gender justice, as well as land and housing rights.

We are trying to disrupt the dominant narrative by inserting hard truths, Mother Earth can’t wait. Can you help us by following our delegation online and share our messages?
