We have to move quickly. At the Halley Bay colony in the Weddell Sea, the second-largest emperor penguin colony, every chick born in the last three years has died.

The emperor penguin's disappearance could dramatically impact Antarctica's food chain. In addition to rising sea levels, the rise of tourism and fishing on the continent has also put the emperor's future at risk by affecting krill, one of the main food sources for penguins and other species.
