Dear John,
Over the weekend I marched with fellow partners for reproductive justice in North Carolina, where I live, in the Raleigh Bans Off Our Bodies Day of Action. As communities joined together across the United States, we sent a clear message to anti-rights actors: Abortion is health care and we will not remain silent as this right is taken away.
At Ipas, we know from our work around the world that abortion bans don’t stop abortions. Should the Supreme Court finalize the radical, rights-denying decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of people in the U.S. will be denied fundamental rights—to health care, to bodily autonomy, and to reproductive freedom.
That’s why I spoke out this past weekend—because everyone, no matter who they are or where they live, should have access to abortion. While much of the rest of the world is moving forward and expanding abortion rights, the U.S. should not be moving backward.
