Hi John,
I am super excited to announce that we deployed a ton of fun, impactful features this week. We have something for every digital program, whether you're hosting virtual events, cleaning up your data, or building power in Canada. Check out the updates below, and reach out if you have any questions!
More Layout Options for Actions
You now have more flexibility in the look and feel of your actions! Create a full width form (example), go with the 50/50 style (example), or keep the standard layout. Access these updated designs when auto-generating a new wrapper. Read more here.
Virtual & Accessible Events
Virtual: We’ve made it a lot easier to host virtual events! Check the virtual setting on your event to add a virtual event link (like Zoom). The virtual event link will then be automatically added to the auto responder email and the calendar invite.
Accessible: We’ve also made it easier to give information around accessibility (like elevator location, interpretation, and more!) to event RSVPs. Check out the new 'Accessibility Notes' setting on the Event Edit page.

Big Updates to the Mobile Inbox
Mobile message queue: It’s Year 2 of Action Network Mobile Messaging, and we’ve honed in on the mobile inbox to make it easier for you to communicate with your activists 1-on-1. The big update in this deploy is a mobile message queue, where you can respond to messages efficiently and quickly as a team. Click to start your queue from the inbox page to check it out.
Here are some other improvements to the mobile inbox:
-
Canned responses: Edit, save, and create new canned responses to make your replies more efficient. More here.
-
Tags: View all tags associated with the activist you are messaging with and add new tags right from the inbox.
-
Flags: Not sure how to respond to a message in the moment? Flag it for review, and filter the inbox by flagged messages to come back to it later.
-
Filter inbox by message received: You can now filter the inbox by message received.
Data Management & Cleanup
We have two new reports available for tags and custom fields. You can download a tag report that includes a list of every tag in your group and how many records have that tag attached. This report gives you a clear view into active tags, duplicate tags, and tags that can be archived. You can do the same thing with a new custom fields report on the Questions and Custom Fields page.
We’ve also implemented Action Only Fields. Unlike regular custom fields, Action Only Fields only live on the action (i.e. a petition, form, or event). They do not show up on the activist record or in reports unless you are targeting the specific action where the Action Only Fields exist. This is great for surveys and any temporary data — instead of cluttering up your custom fields you can now use Action Only Fields. They are also a handy tool for networks that have custom fields locked down!
Other updates worth noting:
-
Use ladders to subscribe and unsubscribe from mobile.
-
Easily keep track of all your keywords using the new Keywords page available via the Details menu.
-
We now have Canadian letter and call targets! Read more here.
-
We've added the French keywords Arret and Aide for keyword responses.
-
Record and save an MP3 for Call Campaigns directly from the page.
-
Upload SOURCE as a column for new lists. Great for migrations!
New integrations
-
SpeechifAI: Improve your post-action sharing experience.
-
CivicShout: Gain more opt-ins through petitions.
-
n8n: Automate your data across platforms.
As with all our new features, these were chosen, brainstormed, and paid for by our Development Partners at the AFL-CIO, Daily Kos, the DNC, and the Canadian Labour Congress — read more about our cooperative development process here. Check out our release notes to follow along with what’s new on Action Network.
Have a question or comment? Feel free to reply to this email, and I’ll get back to you.
Take care,
