The House Financial Services Committee Wednesday voted to advance two pieces of NAFCU-sought legislation: the Expanding Financial Access for Underserved Communities Act and the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program Improvement Act. The advanced bills now move to the full House for consideration.
NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler wrote to Congressional leaders ahead of the conference committee meeting for jobs and competitiveness legislation, sharing the association’s support for the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act to be included in the America COMPETES Act.

Ahead of LGBTQ+ pride month happening in June, NAFCU attended the LGBTQ+ Elder Fraud Prevention virtual summit hosted by the CFPB, along with SAGE and the National Center on Elder Abuse. Attendees and presenters discussed the fraud and financial issues that LGBTQ+ elders experience at higher rates than other populations and what resources are available to combat these issues.
