Team,
I remember when we first found out our daughter had type 1 diabetes. We worked so hard to educate ourselves on what we’d need to do to keep her safe and healthy. We shared the same goal as any parent who has a child with diabetes —make sure our kid could have as normal a life as possible.
For me, this experience is also a call to action. The price of insulin today is completely out of control. Some people are forced to pay $900 a month for medicine they need to stay alive. I’m fortunate we’ve never had to worry about paying for our daughter’s care — but too many parents in this country can’t afford the medicine their kids urgently need.
Congress is considering legislation that would cap the out-of-pocket expenses people pay for insulin at $35/month. Please sign our petition now demanding action on this crucial bill. [link removed]
It is morally reprehensible that people in the United States are forced to choose between life-saving medication and putting food on the table, or paying rent, or affording utilities.
And it is unconscionable that the skyrocketing price of insulin makes people ration their supplies so it lasts longer —something that can lead to serious complications from the disease, and even death.
It is long past time to make insulin affordable and accessible for anyone who needs it. Sign our petition today. [link removed]
Thank you,
Mark
