Once again, the country is reeling. By now, you’ve seen the news that an 18-year-old man, motivated by the despicable, racist, anti-Semitic, and nativist “replacement theory” conspiracy, drove hours away from his home and murdered 10 people in a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood of Buffalo, New York. It was a violent act of white supremacy that I condemn in the strongest terms.
But the violence didn’t end there. Over the past weekend, there were 6 mass shootings across the country. In 2022 alone, there have been 200 mass shootings, more than one every single day.
Enough is enough. We shouldn’t have to accept a world where we’re afraid to go to the supermarket, attend church, or go to the movies.
We need to get weapons of war off the streets, pass common sense gun safety measures, and stop the NRA from preventing the progress needed to keep our communities safe.
Add your name to join my call to pass common sense gun safety measures, like banning weapons of war and holding the NRA accountable.
I will never stop fighting to make our communities safer from gun violence. We deserve to have the freedom to live our lives without the lingering fear of a mass shooting. Thank you for adding your name.
Con gratitud,
Ben Ray
