CVS Health CEO Karen Lynch responded — but what she said is wholly inadequate.

NNU - Medicare for All!

On the day of the CVS Health annual shareholders meeting last week, we made sure our demand for health care justice was front and center. But now we need to keep up the momentum.

Will you join our call for CVS Health to publicly and permanently cut ties with the largest anti-Medicare for All corporate front group by adding your name to our new petition?

Here’s how we took the spotlight during the shareholders meeting:

First, NNU President and RN Jean Ross attended the meeting, and when they opened the floor for questions, she asked them directly why they’ve spent millions to block Medicare for All by funding the dark money corporate front group, The Partnership for America's Health Care Future.

Then, CVS Health CEO Karen Lynch responded to Jean — but what she said is wholly inadequate. She stated:

We have not contributed to the Partnership for America’s Health Care Future since 2020. And as a company we clearly believe that we should continue to build on an employer-based health care system as well as support Medicare and Medicaid, which millions of customers have relied on for decades.”

Now, CVS is trying to have it both ways — they’re trying to distance themselves from the Partnership while continuing to advocate for everything the Partnership stands for — retaining the status quo and our broken, profit-driven health care system. And furthermore, they still haven’t committed to publicly and permanently cut ties with the Partnership.

We’re not going to let them get away with it, and you can help hold them accountable by adding your name to our petition calling on CVS to publicly and permanently cut ties with the Partnership and stop blocking Medicare for All.

With your support, our campaign has created the leverage to put CVS in the hot seat — and if they truly do care about the communities they purport to serve, they will answer our demand.

Ultimately, CVS’ vision for the future of health care in this country is one that is completely opposed to the principles that nurses — and all of us — stand for.

Their vision to maximize profits includes moving patient care outside of safe hospital settings and into retail clinics, like Minute Clinics and HealthHUBs, and increasingly even into patients’ own homes. Our vision is one where all patients have the high quality care they deserve, free at the point of service, and with the direct, hands-on care of registered nurses and other professional caregivers.

With your help, we will not only win our demand for CVS to stop blocking Medicare for All; we will ensure that the shared vision of nurses, patients, and health care justice advocates becomes reality.

Thank you for standing with us!
