Our progressive coalition in the House is about to get bigger: Summer Lee (PA-12) and Andrea Salinas (OR-06) won their primaries yesterday! I was proud to support both of their campaigns because they are strong progressives who will stand up to corporate greed and fight hard on behalf of the people in Congress.
Even in the face of unprecedented special interest spending, Summer and Andrea proved that grassroots, people-powered movements can still win.
But we can't stop now. Our endorsed candidates Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Michelle Vallejo (TX-15) have runoff elections in Texas on Tuesday, and we must sustain this momentum. Can you chip in $3 or any amount to help us keep up the fight to elect more people-first leaders to Congress and protect our Democratic majority?
I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Nida Allam and Erica Smith for running unapologetically people-first campaigns in NC-04 and NC-01, respectively. While their campaigns came up short, they didn't go down without a fight and built a groundswell of support for our progressive agenda in North Carolina that won't be going away anytime soon.
I first ran for office because I didn't see enough leaders prioritizing the issues that impacted my community the most. Believe me, taking on the corporate interests who want nothing but to protect the broken status quo is never easy. Sometimes we win, and sometimes we fall short — but no matter the result, every people-first leader who is brave enough to take on the naysayers and speak truth to power helps to create the conditions for a Congress that is more responsive to the people.
So what do you say? Let's celebrate everything Summer, Andrea, Nida, and Erica accomplished yesterday by continuing our fight. Chip in $3 or any amount to fuel our midterm electoral organizing work.
In solidarity,
Pramila
