Hey John,

I am extremely happy to report that climate champions crushed it in Oregon’s primary election! Starting off, big congratulations to Tina Kotek, who is now the Democratic nominee for governor!

Tina is exactly who we need as our next governor: climate champion, tireless fighter, and effective leader. She’s motivated by her strong values and her belief that we have an obligation to protect the environment we cherish for future generations. For Tina, climate justice is not a talking point, it’s a top priority. OLCV made its biggest-ever primary election investment in Tina’s race, and we will be with her to get this done in November as well.

Next up, congratulations to Andrea Salinas in winning the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s new, sixth congressional district! If elected in November, Andrea would be the first Latina member of Congress from Oregon.

Andrea’s win still has me energized and grinning from ear to ear. Andrea is in a word: magic. No one but Andrea could go up against over $11 million in spending by a crypto billionaire and win. How did she do it? The same way she worked to put herself through college, and how she’s been a working mom dedicated to fighting for workers, immigrants, our climate and environment, and accessible health care. She never gives up. Last year, OLCV awarded Andrea our “Perseverance Award,” and last night she again proved how she never gives up in the fight for what she believes in. Voters responded by choosing Andrea’s authenticity and rejecting a billionaire’s attempt to buy the race.

Climate champions across the state won last night, and it was because of OLCV members and supporters like you. In this primary election, OLCV’s team and volunteers made over 14,000 calls and knocked on about 7,000 doors. We couldn’t do this work without you. OLCV-endorsed candidates couldn’t win without you. Thank you to all the volunteers, the donors, and the voters! And congratulations to all the OLCV-endorsed candidates who won!

While we celebrate, we know we are not done yet. The General Election in November is going to be an even bigger challenge. With your help, we are ready for that next challenge.
