Hi John,
Are you a young Latinx progressive?
Then I hope you'll join me and some friends TONIGHT at 8 p.m. ET to talk about running for office. Run for Something has teamed up with Latino Victory Fund to put on See Yourself Running: Latinx Candidates, an event that will cover what it's like to run as a young Latinx candidate.
Want in on the action? All you need to do is register for the Zoom event.
I'll be moderating tonight's event along with this exciting lineup of Latinx candidates:
- Colorado State Senator, District 34 Julie Gonzales
- Minneapolis City Councilmember, Ward 9 Jason Chavez
- Pasadena, TX ISD Trustee, Position #2 Crystal Dávila
We're all pumped and ready to share our campaign stories and answer questions you may have, like "How do I overcome being the
first Latinx person in a space?"
Latinx voices are
extremely underrepresented in public office –– Latinx people make up 18% of the population of the United States but only 1% of our elected officials. And with serious issues like abortion access, voting rights, and climate change on the line, it is more important than ever that we see diverse people in office who will propel this country forward instead of backward.
You could help change these grim statistics and move our country toward a better future, and that change starts with learning more about the realities of running for office from people who have actually lived these experiences.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up NOW for See Yourself Running: Latinx Candidates tonight at 8 p.m. ET!
