Dear John, Today, our nation celebrates 57 years of giving kids a leg up on learning! I’ve watched Head Start transform children’s lives and futures – my own grandkids’ included. When I’m not advocating for voter participation and investments in early learning, I’m on grandma duty. I start my day at Clayton Early Learning, where I’ve been dropping my grandchildren off for over seven years. Early education has helped my ten grandkids – and millions of children like them – form friendships, focus in the classroom and build a strong foundation for school success. By the time they enter kindergarten, Head Start students are confident, enthusiastic learners. John, babies start learning from the moment they’re born. As champions for children, we must fight to ensure each and every one of them has access to high-quality early learning programs. Send a message to Congress today: early education is essential, and it’s time to make big investments in kids’ futures. Head Start also offers parents and caregivers like me crucial support, keeping us engaged in our little ones’ learning journey. It’s been a lifeline for low-income families, helping their kids climb the ladder out of poverty and into the bright futures they deserve. In spite of all this progress, our nation’s early education system has been collapsing since the start of the pandemic – but a proposal for life-changing funding is on the table. If Congress passes this legislation, billions of dollars will go toward raising wages for Head Start teachers, expanding access to universal preschool, improving child care facilities and reducing the cost burden for families in need. More than one million additional families could have access to high-quality, affordable early childhood education!1 As a Head Start Parent Ambassador and activist, I’ve seen how advocates like us can make a real difference in kids’ lives when we speak up for change. Urge Congress to strengthen and expand early learning programs across the U.S. to support generations of children! Thank you for being a voice for kids, |
