Last week, I led a press conference with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus Scott Perry, GOP Conference Vice-Chair Mike Johnson, and Rep. August Pfluger supporting my bill, the Protecting Free Speech Act, which would terminate the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS's) new Disinformation Board. The Biden administration needs to end this board immediately and start governing more like Washington and Reagan and less like Stalin and Mao.

From the moment Biden took office, he has repeatedly attacked the First Amendment and bragged about colluding with Big Tech to censor Americans. Then, the administration silenced parents by calling them domestic terrorists for speaking up at school boards. Now, the Biden administration has gone a bridge too far and created the DHS's Disinformation Governance Board, also known as the Ministry of Truth. Enough is enough. I am stepping in to stop it.
It is terrifying that the new Orwellian Ministry of Truth is inside DHS, which has armored personnel carriers, SWAT teams, militarized police, and an army of federal agents. What are they planning on doing with all their new power to police speech?
The government should never be in the business of deciding what is true. Just look at the government bureaucrats that lied about the Russia collusion hoax, the Hunter Biden laptop, and the COVID lab leak theory. All three were labeled “misinformation” until the truth came out. The new Truth Czar, Nina Jankowicz, the self-proclaimed “Mary Poppins of Disinformation,” was on the forefront of labeling all of these theories “misinformation,” and now, she has the full force of the federal government behind her to silence dissent. I trust the American people far more than federal bureaucrats to research the facts and determine what is and isn’t true.
I introduced the Protecting Free Speech Act to terminate the Disinformation Board and to ensure that the federal government never again tries to create such an awful, dystopian federal agency. We live in America, not communist China, and I intend to keep it that way.

Last month, I sent a letter to the Department of the Interior requesting that the U.S. Park Police and the National Park Service reinstate police escorts for veterans visiting their memorials in Washington, D.C. as part of the Honor Flight Network. Our veterans sacrificed so much for our freedom, so the least we can do is to welcome them to their memorials appropriately and to thank them for their service and sacrifice.
The Director of the National Park Service responded and announced that the U.S. Park Police will restart meeting veterans at their memorials and facilitate parking and mobility support for disabled veterans. Additionally, the National Park Service will provide park rangers to deliver tours of memorials if desired by the veterans.
I am grateful to secure this victory for our veterans, and I look forward to welcoming them to D.C. as Honor Flights arrive this summer.

I was honored to welcome two Grand Junction Police Officers to D.C. for National Police Week. Our law enforcement officers protect and serve their communities with incredible bravery and sacrifice.
While Democrats continue to defund the police, I’m working to ensure that they have the resources they need to protect our communities, accomplish their missions, and get home safely. I will not let rural Colorado law enforcement officers get left behind by career politicians in D.C. My MORE PILT Act ensures that rural law enforcement, search and rescue, and firefighting operations are supported by the federal lands they help protect. In legislation signed into law, I successfully secured $515 million for the Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program to deliver these critical resources for rural law enforcement.
When federal bureaucracy threatened to impose fees on rural law enforcement communications towers, I stood up for public safety agencies. I will continue to defend our law enforcement officers from attacks from the Biden administration, and I am grateful for their faithful service.

It was great hosting Glenwood Springs Mayor Jonathan Godes and City Council Member Ingrid Wussow in my D.C. office. We discussed my I-70 Detour Act to prevent 16.5 day closures of I-70 that devastate local communities and supply chains. Additionally, we discussed my support for their South Bridge project. Combined, these two efforts will improve emergency evacuation routes and access, decrease traffic and congestion, and strengthen important infrastructure along the I-70 corridor.

Earlier this month, a Senate Committee effectively killed the CORE Act this Congress. The CORE Act would lock up 400,000 acres in Colorado. Despite the fact that 65% of the land impacted by this bill is in my District, Democrats never consulted me about the bill. This bill is just another radical proposal coming from leftists in Denver and Washington, D.C. to lock up our land, take away recreation opportunities, create more bureaucratic red tape, and strip Coloradans of access to their public lands.
I fought against the CORE Act from the beginning. When Democrats tried to pass the CORE Act as part of a massive three-million-acre land grab, I testified at a Rules Committee hearing that it is wrong to rubber-stamp this bill without even holding a Committee hearing or a Committee markup. Later, when Democrats tried to include the CORE Act as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), I led the charge to get it removed from the final version of the NDAA.
This death of the CORE Act is a big win for our farmers, ranchers, and for all of rural Colorado!

Recently, I led 21 of my colleagues in introducing the Trust the Science Act to permanently delist the gray wolf in the lower 48 United States and ensure that action is not subject to judicial review. In 2020, based on the best scientific data, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed the gray wolf from the Endangered Species List and declared that gray wolves are fully recovered. However, an activist California judge unilaterally directed the Fish and Wildlife Service to relist the gray wolf. I condemned this partisan decision and called on the Fish and Wildlife Service to appeal the ruling.
Gray wolves are fully recovered, with 3,000 in the Rocky Mountain States. According to the scientific standards established by the Fish and Wildlife Service, gray wolves should be removed from the Endangered Species List and states should determine how to manage gray wolf populations.
The science is clear, the gray wolf is fully recovered. It shouldn’t be tougher to delist a recovered species than it is to list a species that warrants protection. For far too long, activist judges and extremist environmentalists have weaponized the Endangered Species Act to lock up our lands. The gray wolf listing has also led to countless killings of livestock. The Trust the Science Act empowers states and puts people ahead of violent predators based on actual science. It’s far past time that we removed leftist politics from listing decisions.

Fox News, Lauren Boebert leads effort to defund Biden Administration's 'disinformation' board
“Boebert's legislation would defund the ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ and ensure the federal government doesn't have role in defining what truth is for the American people. ‘This kind of stuff is terrifying. We in Congress have the power of the purse. It is our duty to shut down this department immediately,’ Boebert told Fox News Digital Friday in an interview.”
Complete Colorado, Rep. Lauren Boebert leading a charge against Biden’s ‘disinformation’ board; calls it a hill to die on
“Rep. Lauren Boebert is penning a bill in Congress that she hopes will stop a new federal ‘Disinformation Governance Board,’ to be overseen by the Department of Homeland Security. The Biden-backed board was quickly tagged as the “Ministry of Truth” by its critics, a reference to one of the government ministries in George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984.”
CNS News, Rep. Boebert Introduces Bill to ‘Terminate This Orwellian Ministry of Truth’
“On May 3, Rep. Boebert introduced the Protecting Free Speech Act. It is simple and straightforward: It would disband the Disinformation Governance Board and prohibit federal funds from being used to create a similar board in the future…Boebert said in a press conference…“Look, I wouldn’t trust Biden and his incompetent misfits to take care of one of my goats, and I certainly don’t trust them to be the arbiters of truth…You know who I trust? I trust the American people…They are more than capable of looking at claims, researching facts, making informed decisions. Americans don’t need Big Tech fact-checkers or this partisan board silencing free speech like Communist China does.”

The Hill, Republicans aim to defund DHS disinformation board “This board needs to be defunded and needs to be dismantled because this is not a tool to go after the cartels. We have plenty of tools that we can use to go after the cartels,” Boebert said. “It seems like it was created to terrorize the American people rather than to prevent terrorists from engaging in our country. So I would not give any credence to this disinformation governance board, this department of propaganda.”
