We must act to curb gun violence in America.

This past weekend’s hateful attack in Buffalo, NY is another sad reminder that government inaction on this issue costs lives.

The 18-year-old suspected shooter used a semi-automatic weapon — the same kind of weapon previously banned in California from being sold to those under 21, until a court struck down the law last week.

These assault weapons used to be illegal to purchase nationwide, but Congress let the ban expire in 2004. Since then, mass shootings have drastically increased.

Friends, my bill to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban has the support of over 200 members of Congress, and it’s time we pass it to prevent shootings like the one in Buffalo from continuing to happen.
