Dear OCCRP Reader:

We believe information is power.

When Russia deemed OCCRP “undesirable” and made it dangerous for Russians to read our work, we doubled down and published our Russian Asset Tracker ([link removed]) project with 26 media partners, a work in progress that lists all the assets we could prove belonged to oligarchs and others in Putin’s inner circle. Taking advantage of the global groundswell against politicians and oligarchs who enrich themselves at the expense of ordinary citizens, we’re providing important information so others can act to deliver justice.

Identifying the real origin and ownership of assets is arduous, painstaking work that entails untangling complex structures, cataloging family connections, identifying proxies, and breaking the veil of secrecy on offshore shell companies.

But we’ve been doing this work for a long time. Whether the story is about oligarchs, authoritarians, or corrupt politicians, the journalists in our global network have the experience, skills, and technology to follow the money around the world.

Information really is power that leads to real change. But it comes at a cost — investigating assets, fighting smear campaigns, thwarting misinformation, parrying with vindictive lawyers, and publishing truthful information all require resources.

You have the power to help us give people the information they need to press for change by donating today.

Thank you for your support and we’ll keep digging,
