Can’t Republicans read the room? Donald Trump and his extremist policies are out of step with voters– that’s why he lost in 2020 . But Trump is so hungry for power and desperate to cling to relevancy, that he’s putting everything he’s got into electing and re-electing far-right Republicans like Governor McMaster who will push his agenda.
For too long, we’ve seen what Trump and Governor McMaster’s leadership has to offer: vengeful, racist, regressive policies that strip South Carolinians of their ability to thrive. McMaster and the legislative Republicans refuse to pass common-sense gun legislation that would save lives, while in the same breath, they advocate for banning abortions under the notion of being pro-life. And, even after we continue to witness firsthand the devastating loss of innocent lives that results from hate crimes, Republicans still refuse to pass a hate crimes law.
