Folks, Alabama is in my blood. Our triumphs, our struggles, and our determination to never be silenced all made me into the woman I am today.
My story starts in America’s Black Belt. The rich soil that helped pave the way for Black Americans’ rights also shaped my family's history. My grandfather tilled this soil as a sharecropper to provide for his family. His sacrifices laid the foundation for my future.
The foundation my grandfather laid for his family gave me the tools to write my own story. Whether I was studying hard to become my high school’s valedictorian, attend Princeton and Harvard Law School, or even become one of the only Black women in Alabama to establish herself as an expert finance lawyer, I was determined to never be anything less than excellent.
Now I’m fighting every day in Congress to uplift Alabama’s hardworking families. And right now, the stakes couldn’t be higher. I’m facing my first Republican opponent in nearly a decade for Alabama’s only blue district. If this seat falls, we can say goodbye to our progress, our rights, and the House majority.
But I know that our grassroots supporters – dedicated to protecting voting and civil rights once and for all – will stand with us in this fight. Our story is still being written, and we must work together to push us forward.
As long as there is breath in my body, I will fight for Alabama. Can I count on you to fight with me? If so, please chip in $15 or anything you can to our campaign for Congress so we can keep pushing Alabama forward.
