Friends,
Once again, our country was struck by mass shootings.
In an act of white supremacy, a gunman murdered 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York. Despite being held for threatening violence in his high school, he was still allowed to buy an assault-style weapon.
He then used that weapon to target the Black community.
That attack began Saturday afternoon, but in other parts of the country, the mass shootings didn’t end. A gunman opened fire in Amarillo. And Laguna Woods. And Houston. And Elizabeth City. And in Winston-Salem.
Our country has experienced 200 mass shootings this year — more than one every single day . It doesn’t have to be this way.
I ran for Congress because I know we need change. We have a lot of work to do to protect our communities from gun violence.
As an American, I stand with these communities as they mourn.
As a former Army Ranger, I know weapons of war have no place in our communities.
As a lawmaker, I will never stop working to end these shootings and the spread of racist hate.
Enough is enough. Our children, our families, and our communities deserve the freedom to live their lives without fear.
In solidarity,
Jason Crow
