Protecting our legislative majorities and re-electing Gov. Mills is critical to preserving reproductive rights in Maine.

John,

Maine made history in 1993 when the legislature voted to enact a law officially protecting abortion access throughout the state. We’ve made a lot of progress since 1973 — when the legislature sent a joint resolution protesting the Roe decision to Congress.

Now, Maine has some of the strongest abortion protections in the country. But as a new article in the Portland Press Herald reminds us “laws can be changed depending on who wins elections.”

We must protect abortion rights in Maine – we can’t waste any time if we want to avoid turning the clock back on reproductive freedom. Can you chip in now to help elect pro-choice candidates all over the state?

Janet Mills has been a champion for reproductive rights, helping to expand and protect access to safe, legal abortion and the full range of reproductive care for Mainers everywhere.

Meanwhile, even before the news that the Supreme Court may be taking aim at Roe – and before Susan Collins refused to stand up for reproductive rights and vote for the Women’s Health Protection Act – Maine Republicans recently sponsored SIX separate pieces of legislation that would have restricted abortion access.

Fortunately, Maine Democrats came together and voted to protect our right to the full range of reproductive care. Protecting our legislative majorities and re-electing Gov. Mills is critical to preserving reproductive rights in Maine.

Republicans have been trying to restrict abortion in Maine for years, but Democrats have stood up for us every time. We set big mid-month goals because we know this fight is too important to sit out. Will you donate $5, $10, $20.22, $50, $100, or whatever you can now?

Thank you,

Maine Dems
