I love young artists who attribute their musical influences to American roots music—country, blues, bluegrass, folk, and more. One of my current favorites is Daniel Donato, who has come up with a sound that he calls “Cosmic Country,” which is also the name of his band and most recent album, 2021’s “Cosmic Country and Western Songs.”

A few days ago Donato’s Cosmic Country visited the Relix Magazine studios to perform a blistering cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Cumberland Blues.”
