Title 42 – the Trump-era expulsion policy that closed asylum at the border – has
been in the news for weeks. With the Senate poised to vote on continuing the
shutdown of our asylum as early as this week, you can expect to see even more
lies and disinformation. We’re here to remind you of the facts.

[[link removed]]The truth is: two years ago, Stephen Miller and Donald Trump weaponized a
section of a rarely used 1944 public health law to block people from exercising
the legal right to seek asylum in the United States.

They did this despite multiple experts and CDC officials acknowledging that there is no
public health justification for Title 42 . It’s undeniable: Title 42 was just a way for the Trump administration to
attack immigrants as a part of its xenophobic agenda.

Here’s the most important fact, . Seeking asylum is a
fundamental legal right in the United States. Instead of following U.S. and international law, our government has stopped
processing cases altogether and stranded asylum seekers in dangerous conditions.

Ending Title 42 is not about politics. It’s about people’s lives. Thank you for
