UNC&rsquo;s Incoming Dean Also Leads Action Coalition

The University of North Carolina has named a new dean for its school of nursing: Valerie Howard, EdD, RN, ANE. UNC&rsquo;s announcement of the August 1 start proudly notes that Howard is a nationally recognized academic innovator, accomplished higher education leader, and co-lead of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action North Carolina Action Coalition.

Delaware Granted $500,000 for Well-Being Initiatives for Nurses

The Delaware Nurses Association will receive $500,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act to support nurses&rsquo; mental health and well-being&mdash;a project that the Delaware Action Coalition will co-lead. Funds will be used to provide free, easy-to-access tools and programming for the state&rsquo;s workforce of 22,000 licensed nurses, many left exhausted by the pressures of the pandemic.

Powerhouse Nurse and CEO, Now Retired, Says: &ldquo;Lead!&rdquo;
Maria Gomez, MPH, RN, has retired from nursing and the C-suite, but still has plenty to say.
