We're about two weeks away from kicking off Tread on Trafficking! The wellness challenge and fundraiser to help end child trafficking and exploitation starts June 1st. It’s simple: Anyone anywhere can sign up. Treaders ask people in their network to support them for the number of miles or hours they spend running, swimming, biking, or doing any wellness activity. Take part to raise money to prevent child trafficking and provide care for survivors.

Love146 staff Tamarra Clark, Erin Williamson, and Thomas Dutcher were featured on a multipart series produced by WTNH News8 on child trafficking in Connecticut. Tamarra commented on the fact that children from communities of color have high rates of child exploitation. She said, “It should shock everyone. It should make people angry." These insights from our work were shared on the News 8 website and broadcast across Connecticut.

On Thursday, April 21, the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society presented its annual Life and Liberty Award to Love146 CEO and co-founder Rob Morris. He was recognized for helping Love146 in reaching 67,000 children on 4 continents since 2002 in order to prevent the trafficking and exploitation of children. Morris has lectured and taught in more than 20 countries on issues of justice, compassion, and human rights.

In moving Story Corps interviews, Erin (our VP of Global Programs) and her husband Asher (a doctor working with children who have cancer), along with our Director of US Prevention Aria Flood shared how being a parent connects with their work ending child trafficking. Erin and Asher candidly interview each other about how they emotionally juggle working in fields related to child health and trauma while raising young children of their own. Aria shared how becoming a mother has affected the way in which she approaches child trafficking prevention work.

On our Instagram we recently shared anonymous texts from parents of children in our Survivor Care program. There are parents out there who, because of your donations, know their child can receive the support they need after being trafficked. In this piece, one of our Survivor Care Social Workers reflects on her time working with a youth – and why it sometimes moves slowly. "As social workers and counselors, we are often trained to push the client to “dig deeper.” But at Love146, we cultivate a long-lasting relationship that models healthy boundaries and allows the youth to “dig” when they feel safe, trusted, and valued. Youth then allow us to bear witness to their stories in their own time, in their own way. They are in control, which is one of the most important things we can restore to their lives."
