Join our Participatory Budget Canvass with the Racial Solidarity Committee this Saturday!

For the past three weeks, the Racial Solidarity Committee worked on outreach for the Participatory Budgeting Pilot Program in the City of Sacramento. We have focused on cooperation with local groups along with door-to-door canvassing in Meadowview.

The Participatory Budgeting Pilot Program has two desired outcomes.

  • The primary goal is to collect ideas from the community on how to spend the allotted cash ($500,000), while ensuring that folk from the community are present to vote and oversee the implementation of the project ideas.
  • The secondary goal, and long term project that will go beyond the project deadline, is a revitalization of participatory democracy in our community.

We need as many folk as possible to pitch in for this effort. We will be canvassing every Saturday from 10AM-12PM in Meadowview, and will be meeting at Susan B. Anthony elementary school prior to heading out. This is a vital mission that will benefit our community, our county and our organization, and we need as many people as possible to contribute to the effort. Sign up and show up! To

Hope to see you out there,

Join Sacramento DSA for the Organizing For Power training!

Organizing for Power is an online organizing training led by labor organizer Jane McAlevey, and hosted by the Rosa Luxembourg Foundation. 20,000+ labor and community organizers, including hundreds of DSA members, have completed the program in the last few years. The training teaches organizers how to build power and win campaigns. It's also an opportunity to connect with other organizers across the country and the world. Registration is limited to groups of 10 or more. Sac DSA is interested in recruiting as many members as possible to participate in order to enhance the skills and leadership of our members to win labor, electoral, and community organizing campaigns this year. If you're interested in joining this training, please fill out the form below ASAP. Training sessions will take place on six consecutive Tuesdays from May 10th to June 14th. To learn more about the program curriculum, dates, and timeline please click here. If you have questions please email [email protected].
