Hi team,
I just want to make sure you saw the exciting announcement of our first Plains State partner state – Oklahoma! This largely rural ‘red’ state’s legislature frequently makes national news for being amongst the most regressive in the country. That’s one of many reasons I am thrilled that Groundwork Project gets to support organizers fighting back in this critical state.
We know that long-term change doesn’t happen from the top down, and hyperlocal organizations and leaders on the ground are the best folks to shift the political trajectory of their state. That’s why we’re gearing up to send our grant funds to community organizers, local leaders, advocates, and activists across Oklahoma that have traditionally been under-resourced, excluded, and ignored.
Friend, can you help make it happen? Contribute $20 or anything you can before our next budgeting deadline this Wednesday!
What makes our grants special is that they are:
- Multi-year: Unlike the boom and bust cycle of election-specific organizing, Groundwork Project is committed to organizers year-round, multiple years in a row. We are building lasting, durable infrastructure by partnering with our grantees long term.
- Unrestricted: Many grants come with a long list of stipulations on how the funds must be spent. Groundwork Project will not micromanage how our partners use their funds. We know that our grantees will know better than us where the dollars can make the biggest impact!
- Hyperlocal: The organizations we have selected for our next round of grantees are trusted changemakers in their local communities. Each of these organizations are grassroots focused and led.
When you donate to Groundwork Project you are investing in grassroots organizers making real change in places that are often under-resourced and left behind, not just in OK but in West Virginia, Alabama and Mississippi, too!
A gift of $25, $100 or whatever you can give will go a long way. Here’s a personalized link to give now:

Oklahomans have been organizing on the ground and doing the work to fight back against anti-democratic legislation sweeping their state. Now it’s our turn to step up.
More soon,
Joe
