We need to be absolutely clear: Democrats must expand the majority in November if we’re going to deliver meaningful progress for people, democracy and our planet.
If we don’t, Senate Republicans have said they plan to raise taxes on our families, ban abortion even in cases of rape and incest, gut Social Security and Medicare, and make more attacks on our rights and progress.
Republicans know they cannot win running on such a harmful and unpopular agenda, and the recent polling in this race shows our general election starts in a statistical tie no matter which Republican wins tonight.
So Republicans’ plan is clear: super PACs have already booked over $33 million in just TV ads to attack Cheri and try to buy this seat. That’s on top of the $14 million Club for Growth has already spent.
Between Mitch McConnell’s super PAC, Senate Leadership Fund, and the NRSC, McConnell’s allies are dumping more dark money into North Carolina than any other Senate race besides Georgia. It’s a clear sign that even Republicans are acknowledging this race is extremely close.
There’s no time to waste. The general election starts tomorrow, and the NRSC is already on the air with a sloppy smear attack distorting Cheri’s record of serving North Carolina and upholding the rule of law.
