This tactic would make Jim Crow blush.

Breaking news, John xxxxxx: An unelected, out-of-town Special Master released a draft Congressional District map for New York — and the new map gratuitously targets Black representation.

I need your help to fight back. Add your name to my petition demanding fair maps from New York State that uplift the voices of communities of color — not suppress them.

The draft redistricting map shamelessly targets historic Black representation in NY, and places four Black members of Congress into the same districts. The new map only adds to the gratuitous national pattern targeting districts represented by members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

This tactic would make Jim Crow blush…

The NYS Constitution requires that the core of existing congressional districts be maintained. So why was the historic Black community of Bedford Stuyvesant — once represented by the legendary Shirley Chisholm — broken into pieces in the proposed map?

It’s unacceptable. It’s unconscionable. It’s unconstitutional.

We only have a few days left before the draft is finalized, which is why it’s so important we speak up today — right now. Sign on to my petition to tell New York State: create fair maps, stop silencing Black communities, and let ALL voices be heard.

If someone makes it impossible for you to be heard, chances are they don’t want you to be.

We can't let a right-wing Court in Steuben County undo the will of voters, particularly in historically Black neighborhoods and communities of color.

Thank you for speaking out against this shameful plan.

Keep the faith,

— Hakeem
