Firefighting is a dangerous job. Over a career of public service, many firefighters develop long-term illnesses or injuries as a result of their work – yet it’s difficult for federally-employed firefighters to qualify for disability and retirement benefits related to injuries and illnesses sustained on the job. We should have their backs.

That’s why Jared cosponsored the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act to help those affected firefighters get the care and resources they need – and the bill just passed the House last week!

→ He’s a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus.

→ Earlier this year, he helped secure $1 million in federal funding for the construction of a new Rumford Fire Station and $300,000 in federal funding for the East Millinocket Fire Department to buy four-wheel drive ambulances.

→ In 2021, he voted to pass the PFAS Action Act, bipartisan legislation that would help protect firefighters from exposure to dangerous “forever chemicals.”

→ In 2019, he introduced bipartisan legislation to help improve infrastructure at America's fire stations.
