John,

This past weekend, hundreds of thousands of Americans joined together to stand for the right of a woman to access a safe and legal abortion.

Polls have shown for years that a large majority of Americans believe Roe v. Wade should not be overturned. Americans do not agree that GOP-controlled legislatures should have the power to ban a woman from obtaining an abortion and criminalize those who seek one.

In spite of that, the United States Senate killed the Women’s Health Protection Act last week. This bill would have created a federal law protecting the right to an abortion, but every single Republican—and so-called Democratic Senator Joe Manchin—voted against it.

Without a pro-choice majority in the Senate, reproductive healthcare decisions will be subject to the whims of extremist Republicans in state legislatures across the country.
It doesn’t have to be this way. This November, we can elect enough pro-choice Democrats to break Mitch McConnell’s hold on the filibuster and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.

Senator Michael Bennet voted YES on the Women’s Health Protection Act, and has a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America across hundreds of votes. He is up for reelection this year, and is facing some of the toughest political headwinds we've seen since he was first elected in 2010.

GOP money groups have targeted Bennett as someone they think they can beat this year. The Colorado Turnout Project works to connect with infrequent voters and younger voters in places the DNC isn’t spending. From Grand Junction to Greeley, Senator Bennet and other pro-choice Democrats will be boosted by our outreach in this critical midterm.

Colorado has been trending more progressive, but the stakes are too high to leave these elections to chance. We’re running digital ads, supporting grassroots organizing, and everything we can to make sure Democrats win.
