You've almost certainly seen the news that a leaked draft opinion in our case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, indicates that the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, allowing states to ban abortion entirely.

To be clear, this is not the final order and abortion remains legal in the U.S., although it is largely inaccessible in Texas and Oklahoma. But as we await the final decision, we need to continue to build, enforce, and defend legal protections for our reproductive rights.

The impact of the Supreme Court's decision could be devastating. If Roe is overturned, half the states in the U.S. could take immediate action to ban abortion entirely.

But we don't need to wait to know what a world without the protections of Roe might look like. We just have to look at states like Texas, where S.B. 8, a six-week ban on abortion, has been in effect for months, bringing almost all abortion access to an abrupt stop. And in recent weeks, Oklahoma followed Texas's lead, enforcing an S.B. 8 copycat law to push abortion care further out of reach.
