Whether it’s colluding with Big Tech oligarchs to torpedo negative stories about his corrupt family, or establishing a Ministry of Truth at the Department of Homeland Security staffed by Democrat activists, President Biden has continued a longstanding tradition of Democrat presidents using the power of government to silence dissent by employing an all out assault on free speech and the free press.

 

It does not end there. President Biden is following in the footsteps of his mentor, Barack Obama, whose administration abused the powers of our nation’s law enforcement agencies to intimidate and silence journalists reporting on the scandals that plagued his presidency.

We had the opportunity to hear from journalists who have been silenced, intimidated, illegally surveilled, and attacked with Lawfare for reporting outside the approved talking points of tyrannical Radical Left regimes.

 

Congress must act to address this egregious violation of Constitutional freedoms and liberties. 

 

The Freedom of the Press serves as a check on the powers of government by reporting to the populace on matters of national importance. 

 

When journalists are being silenced, intimidated, surveilled, and attacked by their own government for reporting on the truth, our representative government is threatened.
