La version française suivra.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia,
also known as IDAHOBIT.

IDAHOBIT falls on May 17th every year to commemorate the day that homosexuality was finally removed by the World Health Organization (WHO) from the list of mental disorders back in 1990

Join us in raising awareness, fostering inclusion in our schools, workplaces, and celebrating 2SLGBTQI friends and family in our lives.

In the spirit of IDAHOBIT, we invite you to one of two Knowledge Sharing Days, one for educators and school staff, and the other for parents and guardians of trans and nonbinary youth.

Register today and secure your spot before May 20th!

We ask that today, and year-round you commit to standing with 2SLGBTQI communities across Canada and the globe against all forms of hate and discrimination.

Veuillez cliquer ICI.

New Report - 2SLGBTQI people living with dementia and their unpaid carers face unique challenges

The unique needs of 2SLGBTQI people living with dementia are going unmet in Canadian healthcare and social service systems.

Egale Canada and the National Institute on Ageing launch an awareness campaign on 2SLGBTQI dementia and networks of support to share the findings in a new report: Coming Out and Coming In to Living with Dementia: Enhancing Support for 2SLGBTQI People Living with Dementia and their Primary Unpaid Carers.

New research shows there is a pressing need to tailor support and resources to better address the distinct needs of 2SLGBTQI people living with dementia and those who provide unpaid care for them. Read our recommendations and take our e-modules to find out how you, your organizations, and your institutions can come together to enhance care provision and support.

Human rights watch film fest

HRW Film Festival - March of Dignity

Egale is happy to once again partner with the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in 2022.

Please join us on May 28 at 8 PM for the 19th Annual Human Rights Watch Canada Film Festival LGBT+ feature, March for Dignity.

This film follows a small group of brave 2SLGBTQI activists in Tbilisi, Georgia as they attempt to conduct the first Pride march in the country, where homosexuality remains highly stigmatized. They face overwhelming opposition, abuse, intolerance, and discrimination from far-right groups, the government, and the Georgian Orthodox Church, all of which have a history of inciting violent attacks on the LGBTI+ community. With the country’s hopes for membership in the European Union, and anti-Russian sentiment firmly on the political agenda, Georgians are at a turning point in history where they must choose to fight for progress and human rights, or concede to greater Russian influence. In the midst of this geopolitical turmoil, the committed organizers of Tbilisi Pride boldly strive to be visible in their evolving country.

Check out this film and the four other incredible stories in the lineup for this year's film festival!

Free tickets are available from March 12th onwards, click here for more info: https://bit.ly/3MSJWMx

2SLGBTQI Inclusion Webinars for Mental Health Care Providers

Are you a social worker, counsellor, or healthcare professional wanting to improve 2SLGBTQI inclusion in your practice?

Join us for our Free 2SLGBTQI Inclusion Webinar on Jun 2, 2022 – 12:00 – 1:30 PM (ET)

2SLGBTQI people are especially vulnerable both amid the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Exclusion, discrimination and a lack of cultural competence in mental health systems prevent vulnerable 2SLGBTQI people from accessing the inclusive services and care they need to manage mental health. As an immediate response, we have developed a training for mental health and social service providers.
